the Documentary

Based on the principle consciousness is the road home, this documentary explores the historical and interpersonal interpretations of the role of race in Kirkwood. Combining the opinions, stories, and testaments of interviewees, the documentary explores new age manifestations of racism such as white privilege, the opportunity gap, and systemic racism. Understanding the historical and contemporary states of racism is only the first step to achieveing understanding, but it is also an essential step to enable educated and mutually beneficial dialogue toward solidarity. Because there is no one solution to deal with racial tensions, the documentary instead reveals a possible solution: The ethic of nonviolence.

Note: The production of the documentary is currently in the filming stage. The target completion date for the documentary is January 2010.
